I am a licensed clinical social worker, and I believe in meeting my clients “where they are.” I am genuinely interested in understanding the unique and complex world of each individual and couple in my practice. I view my role as a collaborator and a catalyst for transformation. My style is warm, compassionate and interactive. I believe in the healing power of humor and in the sacred nature of the therapeutic relationship. I listen deeply and watch closely, with curiosity and an open mind and heart.
I work with individuals and couples of all backgrounds on a wide range of issues, including life transitions, marital and relationship conflicts, intimacy challenges, health issues, depression, anxiety, creativity blocks, career concerns, trauma, identity or self-esteem difficulties, and self-defeating patterns of behavior.
Over the years I have worked with people from a wide variety of racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, as well as different sexual orientations.
I draw from a variety of concepts and methods including attachment theory, systems theory, PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy), Dynamic Emotion Focused Therapy, somatic therapy (working with the felt experience in your body), psychodrama, relational psychodynamic paradigm, CBT, as well as new concepts originating from neurobiological research that confirms our need for relatedness, safety and security.
Research shows that the success of therapy has more to do with the right fit between client and therapist and the therapist’s personality, rather than his or her specific theoretical orientation.
